Nonfiction Reading List for 2021
Here is a list of all the books I read in in 2020, and I recommend many of them for you for 2021:
Yikes... When I released my book, "All the Reasons I Hate My 28-Year-Old Boss", at the launch event I told everyone "2020 is Yours" and wrote #CleanSlate in all the copies I signed. Well, after the chaos that was 2020... I think we still need that clean slate. hahah.
I spent much more time playing Call of Duty than I did reading books this year, however, I still managed to read some solid books this year.
I am putting this together several months after reading some of these, so I will do my best to give a mini-description from memory. However, if anything stands out and you want to know more, just reach out and I will give you the scoop.

STILLNESS IS THE KEY - Ryan Holiday
January 17, 2020
Description: “Stillness is the Key” by @ryanholiday was a fantastic book that has me now looking to find ways to slow down my mind. Lots of great examples of successful and powerful historical figures taking the time to BE STILL. Highly Recommend.
This is also a special book because I had the chance to meet Ryan at his book signing at @booksoup in Hollywood.

THE 3-MINUTE RULE - Brant Pinvidic
February 20, 2020
Description: This is a great one from @brantpinvidic
Fantastic suggestion from @kevinbartel
Not only great for people doing presentations, pitches and selling...
But great for everyone to understand “get to the point and get there fast.” A lot of times we think we need to WOW people with figures and numbers and this and that... effective communication is using the least amount of words to get the entire point across clearly.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this one.

WHY ARE ALL THE BLACK KIDS SITTING TOGETHER IN TEH CAFETERIA? - Beverly Daniel Tatum, PhD
March 17, 2020
Description: More time at home for everyone means now is the time to tackle some of the things we say “we don’t have time for.” 📚
This book was all about race relations in America. Very insightful and eye opening. I was always taught, if you don’t understand something to learn about it. Seems pretty simple, however often times our lack of knowledge in an area makes us avoid it. Grateful to read this book and gain valuable insight into understanding the struggles of others. .
Highly recommend this book.

If you aren’t gonna hire me, read a book. .
Or as my good friend @damondamore always says: READ A F’ING BOOK. Lol.
Hope everyone is having a solid Sunday.
Take some time today, and think about your ONE BIG GOAL for this upcoming week.
What is something you could do this week that would have you feeling productive and excited if you were to achieve by Friday?

TRIBE - Sebastian Junger
July 25th, 2020
Description: “The most alarming rhetoric comes out of the dispute between liberals and conservatives, and it’s a dangerous waste of time because they’re both right.” - @sebastianjunger
Fascinating read about humans and the TRIBES we connect with and become loyal to.
I haven’t been reading as much as I have in the past... and I actually can notice a difference. I don’t feel as sharp or even open. I think reading activates a part of ourselves we just don’t get with other forms of entertainment.

THE MAILROOM - David Rensin
December 6th, 2020
Description: And if you don’t know, now you know.
One of the most iconic Hollywood Business books of all time.
It’s a beast of a book, but I am happy I read it.
Also, I found an old United Airlines boarding pass in the book, so jot that I finished it, I can go about tracking this person down. Quick google search shows it’s a Second AD who was at the PA ranks back in ‘04/‘05.
