However, I encourage everyone to please take a few minutes out of your day to remember the significance of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered.

And before you start to think of the statistics of how many men and women have died fighting for this country, first think of this number: 1.

The people that died in the line of duty were not just a number. They were not a statistic.

They were 1 person.

Each person was an individual. A person with a family.

Maybe husband or wife.

Maybe mother or father.

A son. A daughter.

They had hopes and dreams that were put on hold.

They sacrificed their lives while being part of something bigger than themselves.

Today I ask you to remember and pay tribute to the individuals that put their lives on the line for the idea of America and all it represents.

As you remember them…

  • Honor them with your behavior.

  • Honor them with your love of others.

  • Honor them with your compassion towards those that are different than you.

Today I ask that you would smile, say hello, offer a handshake, even a simple nod to everyone you encounter.

Do your part to not only honor the men and women who gave their lives for this country but also do your part to keep the idea of America that we all want to believe in alive.

We are America.

It isn’t the politicians, it isn’t the government, it isn’t the system.

We the people, by the people, for the people.

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

I love you all. As always, I appreciate your comments and please feel free to share with anyone you would like.

Have a great day.
