HOW WIFI IS RUINING YOUR POTENTIAL SUCCESS

☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ Yesterday I went to the Coffee Connection on Centinela in Mar Vista to get some work done. I walked up to the counter, ordered a Nitro Coffee, and then sat outside underneath a heat lamp to stay warm. Because 57 degrees is cold in LA. I sit down, set up my laptop and start working on some branding and marketing for some upcoming public speaking events. All the sudden a guy walks by, and he is wearing jean shorts. And not just any jean shorts: FAKE JEAN SHORTS. You read that correct. They were actually sweat pant shorts — elastic waisted and everything — but they were designed to look like jean shorts. WHAT?!?? And they were ... kind of awesome!!! I immediately wanted a pair!!! I opened up the internet browser, furiously typed “Facebook” into the search bar and was ready and excited to talk about these amazing jean shorts but something happened. Or actually I should say, something DIDN’T happen! 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫 No facebook. No internet. 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫 Not because it wasn’t available, but because I hadn’t turned the WiFi on yet. And with that split second of hesitation without WiFi, I realized something. I didn’t drive over to a coffeeshop in Mar Vista for me to be posting on social media about some random dude’s fake jean short sweat pants. I came to this coffeeshop to WORK. To accomplish goals. To get $@!& done. ✅ ✏️ 🖊 📓 🔨 💵 📱 💻 It made me think: How quickly do we get thrown off of our path in life by the small and meaningless moments? How easily distracted we can be by Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and the Sportscenter Top 10 and the media and Netflix and Kendal Jenner and celebrity gossip? We are like fish getting excited and distracted over every little shiny object in the water. 🐟 🐠 🐟 🐠 🐟 🐠 🐟 🐠 So what the point of this message: 🚫 Turn off the WiFi. 🚫 Eliminate the distractions. 🚫 Put your phone on airplane mode. 🚫 Disconnect from the internet. Get to work on whatever the hell you have been putting off and get away from the distractions. It’s Friday, we are rolling into the weekend. I have a challenge for you: PLAN YOUR NEXT WEEK. Make a list of 3 goals to accomplish, select what days you will work on which specific goals, and have the dedication and discipline to hold yourself accountable. 1 week. Not the next year. Or the next month. JUST ONE WEEK. Let me know how it goes. As always, I appreciate your comments, likes, and shares. It helps more people to see the messages. I Love you all. Happy Friday.
